Solutions to improve the game.

Postby Ambassadors of L&C » Thu Nov 23, 2017 5:47 pm

Vicent, Miriam, and the developers of Lords and Castles, we doubt that it has went unnoticed by you that game participation has been steadily declining. We, members of the two biggest and most active kingdoms, have put aside our rivalry to improve the game. And we represent other kingdoms than our own in this matter as well. We have came up with some solutions we believe will help save the game.

Wars as they are aren’t enjoyable. For the first 35 hours and 50 minutes, there isn’t any fighting between the kingdoms. Why should there be? The last 10 minutes are all that currently matter.

Here’s a new idea. Why not expand the war board? Instead of 30 cells - make it 80! Spread the board out to 10 rows of 8 cells.

This would encourage kingdoms to have all their players fight and stay active in the kingdom! Even a kingdom with 8 heavy hitters could only claim 24 cells - so they’ll need the support of everyone else to win the war!

Treaty cells should have a maximum allotment of 15 - the rest must come from your own members.

This would also require kingdoms to have at least 40 members (instead of 25) to participate in wars - but it would also give kingdoms incentives to have 50 (more players to participate in the wars).

Expanding the rewards to the top 10 kingdoms would get more kingdoms to really participate in the wars as well. As it is, after the kingdom realizes they won’t place top 3, they basically quit playing until the next season.

Also, dukes should be appointed by the king as a position of honor. With the current duke selection, you constantly have to worry about a high level, high trophy player joining your kingdom and causing chaos by declaring wars you don’t want. By allowing kings to appoint dukes, it stops some of the blocking that has been plaguing the game since the first season of world wars.

We hope that you take our suggestions under careful consideration for the longevity of the game many of us love. We fear a mass exodus will happen if things aren’t changed soon.

WB, we’re glad that you agree with our suggestions, but adding all of the things you requested makes it too complicated and confusing.

The “kingdom ladder” alone confused me trying to figure out where Under the Eagle would fall on the ladder. We need a more simplified way of making the wars more fair, and we believe that expanding the board so more players can take cells is the solution. More levels can war with more cells available. And with the top 10 kingdoms receiving rewards, it would keep more kingdoms fighting for more if the season, eliminating the need for your suggested tiers.

Allowing small group wars is pointless as is limiting the amount of cells a player can have based on their level. All that encourages is for players to NOT level up.

Allowing the kingdom to chose the length of the war is not really fair. If you choose to do 12 hour wars only, you’ll get 3 territories to a kingdom that chose a 36 hour war’s one territory.

I’m sorry, but is “ambassadors to L&C” a joke?

Ambassadors do for the people, not for themselves. Look in the mirror and consider doing good for the game from within, since we all know that codi is slow to reply, if at all, let alone getting any actual game updates out to the loyal.

Drop ur high kingdom treaties, help the little guys, take a season off, give the guys you claim to want to help a chance to place in top tier.

Frustrated.........period

Monty.

Based on your reply - it seems that you didn’t read any of our suggestions. Expanding the map helps everyone participate - as does expanding the rewards to the top 10 kingdoms instead of the top 3. Treaties wouldn’t really give kingdoms much of an advantage with a limit of 15 treaty cells per war.

I’m sure making changes to this game isn’t as easy as you may think it is - time and money is involved. Your negative comments to Codi won’t inspire them to help you - or listen to you.

All of us in this group want to improve the game.

my apologies. Of course you are correct. Above changes would be awesome.

Hope Codi considers

To improve the game, do the following:

1) Limit interaction between the highest level and the lowest level members for the weekly event. Every week low level players that reach 1500+ find themselves in a war zone against everyone else playing low in the event to spend less time during the event. So the low levels get crushed ... and they stop playing.

2) Limit the number of players that can participate in a war ... your system is crashing and slow at 30 cells ... make it 16 with a 4x4 square board or 24 with a 4x6 board.

3) Switch to a 12 hour war system and allow for more wars during the world wars.

4) Create a 2-3 tier leaderboard for low-level kingdoms and high-level kingdoms.

5) Give something to all kingdoms that can reach a “bar” on the leaderboard ... i.e. every kingdom that can maintain a minimum of 4 territories receives a reward. That way all teams will be competing to at least keep 4 territories, even if they can’t place in the top 3.

6) Award the top 10 teams.

Out.

White Black.

Thank you for your interest to help improve the game. We agree that weekly events could be improved to encourage all players to play more. The thread entitled “Weekly event” goes over several ways this may be achieved.

We agree that rewarding the top 10 kingdoms would be very beneficial to each war season, and we like your idea of rewarding any kingdom that has at least 4 territories by the end of the war season.

However, we still feel a larger map would encourage the entire kingdom to help participate in wars. Your idea to shrink the board may do the opposite as 5 top players in a kingdom would be all that is needed to win a war.

We also like your idea of shortening the war time. 36 hours seems a bit too long. However, if the wars were shortened to 12 hours - many players may fail to show up to play due to family, work, or the need to sleep. Perhaps 24 hours would be a nice compromise - shorter, but not too short.

Unfortunately we don’t see a tiered system being easy to impliment compared to what we have already proposed. We feel our idea could be done within a month or two - where your idea could take 6 months to a full year.

We feel your ideas may have been better placed in a separate thread.

Maybe we should have titled our thread......”SIMPLE” solutions to improve the game

All the best,

Please don’t be condescending to other players who post on this message board.

I offered ideas for what I consider to be good ideas. Period.

If you only wanted people to come and rubber-stamp your small group’s Post ... you should have said so when you were asking people to come and comment to your post.

Regardless, the boards need fewer people on them to cutdown on lag time ... more people is counter-productive and will make things worse.

if anyone else has any ideas for “solutions to improve the game”, I for one would be happy to see and comment on them.
